10 Steps to Choosing the Right Path for Early Morning Commutes

Halloween has just passed and it is the perfect time to ask yourself if you are afraid of the dark. There may be ghosts and goblins hiding behind bushes ready to pounce at a moment’s notice. Thank heavens you can transform into your alter ego of Super Biker and save the commute with just a few easy steps.

1.       Decide on a path.
The path you will choose in life will help you find your way in the darkest of times.
Here is my headlight lighting the path.

2.       Familiarize yourself with the roads.
Trust me mornings are not the time to venture out and explore the world.

3.       Let someone know the exact path you take.
They could put a tracking device on you but I think just a verbal map will do the trick.
Let people know the route you take, so you everyone can feel good about what you are doing.

4.       Stick to that path without deviation if possible.
Friends and family need to know where you are so stick to the path.

Here is a streetlight on my path.
5.       Follow the lighted way.
This is totally different than go towards the light, which you want to avoid at all costs. Street lights are your best friend.
Signs can be helpful in determining traffic speed and patterns.

6.       Travel on quiet streets with less traffic.
Feel the peace and calm, no honking horns or speeding cars.

7.       Slow speed limit signs are the right streets for that early morning ride.
No one wants to race the late risers who are speeding to work.

8.       Travel through the neighborhoods that you feel good about. My best friend Mary lives on this street so it must be awesome.

Here I travel through a pedestrian tunnel, so I don't have to deal with cars.
9.       Early morning cut through is allowed in my book.
I have been known to cut through a well-lighted parking lot in the mornings. Lots of light means lots of love.
I use a parking lot as part of my path because there are no cars there early in the morning.
 10.   Enjoy the ride.
No matter what time of day a ride is a splendid thing.

Some mornings are pretty dark especially when the moon is new but for those of us who ride to work early in the morning or even late at night know that there will be a special place in heaven for us, or at least a slimmer waistline.
